As a large number of people nowadays seem to have turned their backs on commercial offices to let an be either already working from home or hoping to work from home, we are inclined to overlook a number of the difficulties connected with this.

Yes there are a number of obvious advantages that we are all aware of but what about the drawbacks?

Below are 7 factors why carrying out work from home can all too often be a disadvantage:

1. Interruptions can come in all sizes and shapes. From people popping in and out to the dog barking. And what about the house phone constantly ringing, the baby bawling and the disruptions from your husband or wife that just wouldn't happen if you were in a commercial office space?

2. Are you someone who wants other workers to be around to help inspire you and propel you to work better?

3. In contrast, you may be someone who as a result of working from home starts work too early and finishes much later. For some, the temptation of working unsociable hours is just too tempting when their office is straight down the hall. This is a real problem and one that is often not appreciated by your spouse.

4. Numerous people are the complete opposite and will not be able to resist being too casual with the apparent freedom that being at home offers.

5. Think about the very real problem that arrises when you have a client who wants to come to your office for a meeting? There's only so many times that Starbucks can be suggested.

6. Professional image is another worry. No matterhow professionally you conduct your business, it never looks as professional when you inform a client that you work in your spare room.

7. Your business address is another challenge. Needless to say you can utilise your home address, a P.O. Box or a rented address but it is without doubt one of the down sides of working from a home office.

So there are my 7 personal issues about working from home.

So what are the alternatives, especially when there is such a monetary incentive to have an office at home? There are a lot of different styles of office space available to rent, perhaps offering a much more competitive solution than you realise. Virtual office space, conventional space and serviced officesare all options, though for many a virtual office space is an effective transition from home.

It just may be worth investigating further with regards to the outgoings and what you can get for your investment. You may be quietly surprised.
